Chapter Eleven
Beckett
The last few days were nothing like I expected them to be. If you’d asked me a week ago if I’d spend my Christmas break off with the most perfect girl, having earth-shattering sex, I’d have said you were crazy, but here I am, having just lived that. That makes leaving today on a ten-day road trip all that much harder.
“I’m going to miss you,” I whisper into Julia’s ear. It’s only about seven in the morning and still dark outside.
“Same,” she says, her voice sleepy, as I pull her a little tighter against me. We’re spooning in her bed, the one I’ve slept in for the last four nights. The thought of sleeping in a bed alone doesn’t sound appealing now that I’ve had her body pressed to mine these past few nights. I’ve quickly adjusted to having her within arm’s reach.
“What time do you have to leave?” she asks, rolling to face me.
“I have to be at the airport at ten, flight leaves at eleven,” I tell her on a yawn as she presses a kiss to my chin.
“Our first test of time apart.” She sighs. “Sucks that it came so quickly.”
“You’ll be just fine. You have Jill to keep you company,” I tell her as I roll her under me and start kissing her neck.
“She’s not as cuddly as you are,” she says, sighing as I find that one specific spot behind her ear that melts her instantly. I stop what I’m doing and laugh at her comment.
“Glad to know I’m good for something,” I say against her neck.
“You’re good for more than one thing.”
“Like what?” I ask, goading her into telling me more.
“That,” she says, as I resume kissing her neck. “And that thing you do with your tongue against my clit.” A shudder courses through her body beneath me. “And you’re pretty good at pinning me against the wall.”
“So far, only sexual things. So, I’m only good for my sex skills?” I ask, teasing her.
“Well, you do like to keep me naked and underneath you, or on top of you,” she jokes right back, pushing against my chest.
“Figured I’d better take advantage of our time together before the crazy schedule returns as of today.”
“It wasn’t a complaint, just an observation,” she replies.
“I had to make up for lost time.”
She laughs. “And whose fault is that? You could have been getting lucky since this summer if you’d have played your cards right.”
“It was worth the wait,” I tell her, dropping back down to kiss her on the lips. I’m seriously going to go through Julia withdrawals over the next ten days. I guess I’ll have to be satisfied with my left hand for that time again.
“It was,” she agrees as we break apart once again.
“We better get moving if you’re going to have time to stop by your place before heading for the airport. You don’t need to be late and have everyone hounding you because of it. They can’t afford to leave you behind.”
“Coach would have a heyday with that.
